Thesis Title
The protein composition of endogenous losses in the human gut

During the digestion of food significant amounts of protein are secreted into the gut and some but not all of this material is digested and absorbed. This is an important physiological process and little is known about the nature of these endogenous proteins. Mr Miner-Williams'' research focussed on quantifying the proteins found in digesta at the end of the small intestine of the adult human and how these proteins are affected by dietary composition. In order to do this he evaluated and modified several chemical analytical methods. The results Mr Miner-Williams’ research are of fundamental interest and also clearly demonstrate an effect of dietary protein on both the amount and protein composition of gut endogenous materials
